Diet for Leaky Gut – The First and Most Important Step In Healing

The fast path to healing intestinal inflammation is the diet for Leaky Gut. Most people who suffer from Leaky Gut Syndrome are completely unaware that the only path to heal Leaky Gut is through their diet.

In fact there is no miracle Leaky Gut Syndrome cure and without changing your diet, you will NOT heal.

Because it is necessary to have a proper diet for Leaky Gut, it’s important to pay close attention to what you eat. Diet influences everything from balancing and controlling of blood sugar, to hormones.  Keep this in mind: If you’re diet isn’t working with you, it’s probably working AGAINST you.

The function of a diet for Leaky Gut is to remove as much inflammation from your digestive tract as you can. Inflammation is what drives and therefore, exacerbates your symptoms of Leaky Gut.

First off, you want your diet for Leaky Gut to avoid sources of irritation. Let’s look at a few common causes of inflammation:

Allergies to food

Eliminating allergies and other food intolerances are the single most important guide in your diet for Leaky Gut.  This is a must in the treatment for Leaky Gut Syndrome.

Here is the cycle:    Once you have Leaky Gut Syndrome, and then develop food allergies, these allergies cause more inflammation in your digestive system, and the extra inflammation, in turn makes your Leaky Gut Syndrome worse. The more you suffer from Leaky Gut Syndrome, the more allergies to food are developed, and on and on it goes.

This situation paints a bleak picture, making it easy for people to quickly spiral down and out of control. When this happens it’s a good sign that you have neglected changing your diet for too long.

Sometimes, it’s difficult to recognize food allergies right away. Some foods take as long as two full days before there are any warning symptoms. One way to be certain of those foods that can cause a reaction is to take either a Muscle Test or have a Food Allergy Panel done. I would recommend either of these as an absolute if you are changing to a diet for Leaky Gut.  Allergens have to be removed before you can get any relief.

Fats That Are Bad for You

You will find that I emphasize the importance of eating the right fats as a vital measure of my diet for Leaky Gut, and while I don’t have a problem saying that NOT all fats are good, I do have a problem in that many fats which are thought to be bad, are actually quite good for you, and vice versa.

We’re not just talking about that same old trans-fats-are-bad spiel.  Fats that are high in Omega-6 Fatty Acids, but low in Omega-3 Fatty Acids are going to increase the inflammation. Steer clear of these. You need to do the research and choose your fats very carefully to promote healing of your Leaky Gut.

Avoid Toxic Food Chemicals

Consider this in your diet for Leaky Gut. Your foods are often treated with toxic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and a vast array of other farm chemicals that are sprayed on your food. One of these, in itself, would be bad enough, but conventional farmers spray their crops with dozens of toxins – making the level of toxins even worse.

To avoid this, my recommendation is to eat organic foods whenever possible in your Leaky Gut Syndrome diet.  Organic foods contain few if any toxic chemicals that can cause gut inflammation.

It isn’t just fresh fruits and vegetables that you need to be concerned about chemical content – take into consideration preservatives in the food supply that prolong shelf life or add flavor to otherwise unhealthy foods.

Consider also, that you are what you eat – Cows, chickens and many of the meat producing animals have toxins in their diet which end up on your dinner table.

Alcohol

There is only one thing I have to say about this: Alcohol has no place in your Leaky Gut Syndrome diet.

A major cause of inflammation in your digestive system is alcohol. Those who come from alcoholic parents, or who are alcoholic themselves, and have intestinal inflammation, will often find relief from eating a diet for Leaky Gut. They are at a higher than average risk for the disorder. This comes from a number of reasons, and in fact is often a sign when there is no need for a formal diagnosis of alcoholism.

Those of you who know you have Leaky Gut disease aren’t the only ones who can benefit from the diet for Leaky Gut. If you have any symptoms at all, you can get quick relief, and actually steer clear of needless suffering by following the right Leaky Gut Syndrome diet.
